Age: 16
Bloodline: Half Blood
Gender: Female
House: Gryffindor
Year: 6th
Standing: Order Supporter
Plot:
While she was only a young student when Headmaster Dumbledore was brutaly murdered, his death still had an impact on young Riley. Being raised in a loving family, with strong morals has persuaded Riley not only to believe in the cause of the order, but to support them as best she can. In her mind it's better to die uncompromised, then live, but give up who you are, and what you believe in.
Resume: Riley wants to complete her magical education, and do what she can to support the cause she believes in.
Personality:
As all human beings, Riley is a complex individual, who's greatest strengths often serve as her strongest weaknesses. While she is confident in her own skin, she doesn't like to flaunt her body, and wears clothes that she feels comfortable in -whether they be stylish, or not. While she prefers to let people come, and talk to her, she is not against reaching out to the shyer students, and drawing them into a conversation. Once she gets going, this girl never stops, and she knows how to tell a good story. She is also very opinionated, and almost always stands up for what she believes in, and never gives up without a fight. Riley also doesn't like to back down from a physical confrontation, and while her physical body (which stands at 5'8) doesn't exactly pose much of a threat, she is a quick draw, and a vast variety of hexes, and jinxes which she isn't afraid to use should the situation warrant it. Riley will try just about anything once, and once her mind is set on a goal, she will dedicate herself to it until it is accomplished. While that is a good trait for a diligent student to have, it has it's negative sides as well. For example, at the tender age of eight, Riley convinced herself that one day she would be able to fly without the use of magic, and took a nasty tumble from her second floor bedroom window, and gave herself a broken leg, and wrist.
While her grades aren't the greatest, Riley has never failed a subject, but does quite well in practical classes, as she loves to study magic itself, and spent many hours researching various magical aspects in the library. When she is interested in something, Riley can learn about it for hours, and make one heck of a presentation of what she's learned, on the other hand if she finds something boring, History of Magic for example, she only puts in a half hearted effort to scrape a pass.
Riley is also a girl who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. While she does agree that boys are very cute, she prefers to play with them, rather then giggle at them from the sidelines. Her many hobbies include dancing, quidditch, baseball, football, and writing.
History:
The only child born to a homemaker squib, and a wealthy muggle businessman, Riley was often pampered as a child. Her mother Penny Larue was one of the middle children in a large wizarding family, and the only one not to inherit the magical gifts of her She was often ignored due to her squid status, and spent many of her childhood years at a private muggle boarding school, singing away the time. While her family was not a cruel one, Penny often got lost in the shuffle, between the antics of her younger brothers, or the accomplishments of her elder sisters, and became accustomed to life outside the spotlight. She has a rocky relationship with her parents, and siblings, and Riley has only met her extended wizarding family on six seperate occasions.
But life at muggle school wasn't all that bad for Penny Terran, and in her sixth year at the popmpus school she attended, Penny was fortunate enough to meet her future husband: Brian Terran. Brian was the sole heir to a vast fortune built upon a successful hotel chain, and when he gazed into the beautiful eyes of Penny Larue, he lost his heart forever. They were married shortly after graduation, Brian's parents frowning upon the relationship. Brian was trilled at the birth of his new baby daughter, but he was also greatly upset at the gap he felt between his wife, and parents, and tried many times to make them appreciate Penny the way he did.
One sunny Wednesday morning when Riley was four, he boarded his parents' private plain en route to London for a private vacation with just the three of them when there was a malfunction with the plane's controls, sending the Terran family, and their pilot plunging down to the tree covered valley below. Only the pilot, and Riley's grandfather managed to survive. Penny was devestated at the loss of her husband, and eventually moved Riley out of their roomy cottage in Glasglow, claiming that it was filled with 'too many bad memories'. They eventually settled down in Dublin, Ireland where her mother managed to find a decent sized ranch with the fortune left to her by her husband.
Riley's Grandpa James, Brian's dad, also moved into the neighbourhood, and grew very close with his granddaughter, and mother in law. Riley recieved her first riding lesson from him, and they still go riding together often during breaks from Hogwarts. When Riley was eight Her mother eventually made the decision to remarry, and soonafter gave birth to a pair of baby boys (Ryan, and Liam). While she has no quams with her Stepfather, Riley decided to keep the name of her late father, and continues to use it proudly to this day.
After her mother's new marriage, life passed normally for Riley, and her family. Because she had married a muggle, Penny never once considered the chance that her daughter could be a witch, so you can imagine her surprise when Riley's Hogwarts letter came. Most of her family accepted the news happily, and once her grandfather realized that she wasn't pulling his leg, he did a traditonal irish jig to show his delight.
Riley's years at Hogwarts passed as calmly as they can for a teenage witch at Hogwarts, she was sorted into Gryffindor, and proudly took her place among the red, and gold supporters. Her routine was similar to that of most Hogwarts students split between homework, and quidditch, and along the way Riley developped a passion, and skill for photography, spending many hours around the castle photographing various landscapes, and students. However her blissful life at Hogwarts was about to come to shattering halt.
As the dangers of the wizarding world became greater, Riley felt as safe as ever inside the great stone walls of Hogwarts castle until one dark June night in her fourth year. Riley was awoken from her bed by the screaming of voices below her window. The fourth year, and her roomates quickly hurried down to the common room where they were greated by distraught students, and many tears. One shooken prefect told them that their beloved Headmaster had died.
Immediately after the funeral Riley was shipped home with her fellow students. For most of her classmates it wasn't a problem as most of them had atleast one magical parent, but Riley was a halfblood, the product of a squib, and a muggle, something that made an at home magical education a little difficult. Riley's mother, and stepfather suggested that she attend a local muggle school, but after much discussion they decided that the idea wouldn't be suitable. Luckily for them, Penny's family had a better idea. Riley was taken under the wing of her Aunts, and Uncles who did their best to teach her spells, and magical history that she would've learnt in her fifth year at Hogwarts. When Riley heard the rumours that Hogwarts was reopening, Riley begged to be allowed back, and her mother reluctantly agreed after much persusasion from her daughter, as well as her brothers, and sisters. Despite the tradegy, Hogwarts was still the safest place on earth to them.
Apperance: [I'm still trying to decide on a definate model, but I think this pic gives a fairly good example of her general appearance]
Role Play Sample:
As the sun began to settle itself amongst the forest ridden border of the castle grounds the blonde haired figure of Riley Terran could be seen taking in the sunset from the shaded courtyard. The bench upon which she was perched had a perfect view of the setting sun in all it's glory, and with her curfew still several hours away, the young Gryffindor had the time to enjoy the precious sight in all it's brilliance.
Ever since she was a first year the lavish grounds of the magical academy she attended had fascinated Riley, and when she wasn't ladden down with homework, and sometimes even when she was the young witch found it beneficial to clear her head by exploring the natural beauty that surrounded her. Normaly she prefered to be alone, but tonight was different. Riley couldn't explain it, but tonight she wanted the company of someone else to share the picture perfect moment.
Digging out a camera from the leather satchel that lay beside her on the bench, Riley raised the lense to the tree line, and prepared to take a shot.
